Why design matters

Why professional brow design matters

Brows are one of the most expressive features of the face, and semi-permanent pigment isn't something you can simply wipe off. A little planning goes a long way.

They frame your face

Small differences in length, arch and thickness change how balanced and open a face looks. That's why shape is designed before any pigment is placed.

Semi-permanent deserves care

Pigment placed in the skin fades gradually rather than washing away, so technique, shade and shape deserve careful, trained attention.

Healing changes the picture

Colour and softness shift as brows heal. A good consultation helps you understand what's realistic for your skin and your preferences.

The studio

A brows-only studio, taking shape in Westhoughton

Westhoughton Brows is being built around one thing: brows. A specialist focus means a calm, considered appointment rather than a long beauty menu.

Our artist is currently completing professional training, and appointments will open once she is ready to trade. Until then, this site is a place to learn about the treatments and to join the launch list.

What to expect

A typical semi-permanent brow journey

Details of our own appointments will be confirmed before booking opens, but most semi-permanent brow journeys follow the same path.

  1. Consultation

Talk through the look you want, your skin and your lifestyle, and whether treatment is right for you.

  2. Brow mapping

Your brows are measured and the shape drawn on, so you can see and agree the design first.

  3. Treatment

Pigment is placed using the technique chosen for you, with comfort and hygiene in mind.

  4. Healing & follow-up

Aftercare guidance helps your brows heal well, and a follow-up refines the result.

What is microblading?

Microblading is a semi-permanent technique in which a handheld tool is used to place pigment in fine, hair-like strokes in the upper layers of the skin. The aim is a fuller, more defined brow that still looks natural. Our microblading guide explains the process in more detail.

How long does microblading last?

Microblading is semi-permanent rather than permanent, so it fades gradually. It is often said to last somewhere between one and three years, and sometimes less, depending on skin type, lifestyle, sun exposure, skincare and how your skin holds pigment. Many people choose to book a refresher appointment from time to time to keep the colour looking fresh.

What's the difference between microblading and powder brows?

Microblading creates fine, hair-like strokes with a handheld tool, which tends to give a lighter, more textured look. Powder brows use shading to create a softer, more filled-in effect, similar to makeup. Neither is “better”; they suit different looks and different skin. We compare them side by side on the microblading page.

Which brow treatment is right for me?

It depends on the look you want, your existing brows, your skin and how your lifestyle suits aftercare. A good starting point is our guide to semi-permanent eyebrows, and the final recommendation is made individually at your consultation.

When are appointments opening?

Appointments are not open yet. Our artist is currently completing professional training and will begin taking clients once ready to trade. The best way to hear first is to register your interest.
